Community rules
Updated 9 September 2026 · 2026-09-09-WP2R1
DevD2 is built for players who enjoy difficult encounters, experimentation and playing together. These rules keep that experience fair. They apply to our realm, account website and project-managed community spaces.
Start with a legitimate game
You need your own legitimate Diablo II and Lord of Destruction installation. DevD2 is an independent fan project, not an official Blizzard or Project Diablo 2 service. Our launcher and modifications do not provide a licence to the original games.
Use the current DevD2 release and read the terms of use before registering. Follow the original games’ applicable age restrictions. Contact us before registering on behalf of a child; do not submit someone else’s details or claim to be their account owner.
Treat other players as people
Threats, targeted harassment, hateful abuse, doxxing and sexual exploitation are not welcome. Keep names, chat and shared material suitable for a general gaming community. Do not impersonate another player or a member of the team.
Disagreement about a build or balance change is fine. Personal attacks and campaigns to drive someone out are not. Send reports privately to staff through the DevD2 Discord; do not publish another person’s email, IP address or private messages to make a point.
Play the game yourself
No bots, unattended farming, automated combat, automatic looting, input broadcasting or unauthorised memory, packet or game-file manipulation. Do not interfere with the website, launcher, signing checks or another player’s connection.
The graphics options, loot filters and quality-of-life features supplied or explicitly approved for DevD2 are allowed. A built-in feature is not permission to add a separate automation tool. Accessibility remapping that does not automate play should be discussed with us when its effect is unclear.
Shared stash and a second weapon set are intended gameplay. Using extra clients or accounts to supply unattended buffs, farm rewards or bypass restrictions is not. Separate people sharing a household or internet connection may play together; a shared IP address alone is not evidence of cheating.
Keep control of your own account
Use an email address you control and a password used only for this game. Never give somebody your verification link, device approval code or launcher token. Staff will not ask you to send those credentials by email or in chat.
Do not buy, sell, lend or take over accounts. An existing realm account must be linked using the claim process; account creation is not a password-reset or ownership-transfer mechanism. Tell us promptly if you lose access or believe your account is compromised.
Keep trading inside the game economy
Trade honestly. No account or item sales for money, paid carries, outside currencies, cross-game payment, gambling services, stolen items or deliberately misleading trades. Gifts without an outside payment are allowed.
Use the in-game trade window where possible and check both sides before accepting. Items dropped on the ground are not reserved by the software. Agree how to share boss and quest loot before a group run; do not present an informal agreement as a guaranteed recovery service.
DevD2 does not run a player marketplace on this website. A link or listing elsewhere does not make that service official. Report scams with the game name, approximate time and relevant evidence, without exposing account credentials.
Respect the group and the encounter
Player-versus-player combat must be agreed by those taking part. Do not use hostile actions, dangerous portals, encounter triggers or occupied game slots to sabotage somebody who has not agreed to that activity.
Ask before starting a quest event or boss phase that affects the group. Summon armies and mercenaries are part of DevD2, but deliberately creating avoidable load to freeze a game or disconnect other players is not.
Report broken rewards and encounters
If a boss suddenly dies without a plausible attack, a reward repeats, an item duplicates or a difficulty unlock behaves incorrectly, stop deliberately reproducing it for gain and tell us. Keep a short record of the difficulty, player count, skills used and what happened. Normal discovery while playing is not the same as intentional exploitation.
Do not circulate exploit instructions or distribute affected items. We may correct the relevant rewards, progression or items after investigation. A bug fix can change an item or interaction without promising compensation.
How we handle problems
We consider context, seriousness, repetition and available evidence. Action may include a warning, a chat restriction, removal of exploit gains, temporary suspension or account closure. Serious security threats may require immediate protection while we investigate. Do not evade an active restriction with another account or device.
Appeals are handled through the DevD2 Discord. Contact DevD2 staff privately and include your realm account name, the restriction or decision you are appealing, the approximate date and a short explanation of what you believe should be reconsidered. Include only relevant evidence and redact information about other people. Never send your password, email verification link or launcher approval code.
You may ask for a human review. We will explain the outcome as far as we can without exposing somebody else’s information or security controls. Do not use public accusations or repeated messages to pressure other players or staff. A review does not guarantee that the original decision will be reversed. These rules do not remove your privacy rights.
Changes to the rules
This version takes effect when published. We identify updates by date and version, and explain material changes through the website or account service. We do not claim an existing account accepted this new text merely because it previously ticked a different checkbox.
Announcements about release availability, resets and maintenance belong to DevD2. Neither Blizzard nor the Project Diablo 2 team administers this realm or handles its appeals.
